From May 2000 - Present, Charles C.C.C. Crabbe has been with Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd as the Chief Internal Auditor with the following responsibilities:
- Completing supervisory role over the Internal Audit functions of the bank.
- Reporting to executive management and primarily the board on internal control issues.
- Ensuring availability of resources for the department.
- Monitoring operational systems and controls with the use of automated audit software and methodologies consistent with organizational goals.
- Liaising with both internal (Departments) and external (External Auditors) outfits on control issues to avoid duplication of efforts.
During his first year with the bank, he developed and documented the Risk Based Audit procedure manual for the bank, which was subsequently approved by the board for implementation. In addition to this role, he doubled as project manager for the bank’s operational system. This put him in control of implementing the Flexcube system, Business Process Re-engineering, developing and producing the new operational manuals of the bank and all other retail banking solutions (including the introduction of new electronic products).
Charles arrived in Ghana in 1996 to begin a career in Finance. The first four-year experience was acquired in KPMG, an international firm of Accountants and Management consultants. During this period, he was assigned to all types of roles in addition to the audit function. These assignments provided various experience in other areas as critical as Taxation, Accounting Systems, Company Due Diligence, Management Information Systems, Management Consulting and Corporate Valuations.
